The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX7 is a good example of this. Panasonic put a Leica 3x zoom lens in front, an oversized LCD screen on the back and stuffed the inside with some big camera goodies, starting with a five megapixel sensor. The camera has an impressive list of features, but for those that just want to point and shoot, there is a “Simple” mode (oddly indicated by a heart-shaped icon) that reduces choices to image size and a few options.
