Rollei Prego dp6000 Review

Rollei Prego dp6000Rollei Prego dp6000 camera combines a 2.5-inch TFT color monitor with a real-image optical viewfinder

See it through your new Rollei Prego dp6000 digital camera! Because this rugged camera comes not only with an unusually large, 2.5-inch TFT color monitor, but also with a real-image optical viewfinder with eyesight correction. And this means that you have optimum freedom to change from carefully composed monitor-controlled pictures to fast-paced action shots for which an optical viewfinder becomes indispensable. But there is more to the powerful new Prego dp6000: Image quality, to name just one example, can be varied from a space-saving Economy Mode to non-lossy TIFF recording.

The stylish metal body of the Prego dp6000 is home to outstanding technical features: 6.35 megapixel CCD, a 3x zoom lens 7.2-21.6mm f/2.8-4.7 HFT (equivalent to 35-105mm in 35mm photography) and a digital zoom that helps you zoom in on your subjects by an additional 4.4x. Macro shots are possible from 9 to 80 cm. In standard mode, the autofocus will cover a range of 0.80 cm to infinity. An unusual, but very practical feature is the combination of a power-saving polysilicon low-temperature TFT display with a real-image optical viewfinder with eyesight correction. Together, these two give maximum freedom in framing and creative control.

The Prego dp6000 is equally flexible when it comes to recording formats and quality. Stills can be corded with either Fine, Standard or Economy image quality or – without any compression loss – in TIFF format (available only with 2816 x 2112 pixels). As a result, there is a wide margin for the subsequent correction of tonal values or sharpness. On the other hand, the Prego dp6000 will also record brief video clips with sound. These are stored with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels and can – like image files – be recorded either on the 64MD SD card supplied with the camera (optional SD cards up to 512 MB) or transferred to a computer or TV set via USB cable or video port.

Manual options include single-frame or continuous shooting (five frames), bracketing (±0.67EV) or self-timer with 2 or 10-second delay. Shooting modes range from programmed AE or Av and TV to manual, portraits, action or night program.

The built-in flash unit has an effective range of 0.6 – 3.0 m (Wide/ISO 200) and can be set to either Auto, Off, Forced or Red-eye Reduction. For natural color rendition even in critical lighting conditions, the Prego dp600 offers white-balance options of Auto, Manual, Daylight, Cloudy, Tungsten as well as Fluorescent 1 and 2. Exposure compensation can likewise be controlled automatically or manually in 1/3 incremetns over ±2.0 EV.
