hey guys and gals

i like the looks of the sleek, and im pretty sure thats what im getting for an mp3 player. Ipod is just to crummy and its the fad 'it' thing, even though it aint that grat. (everyone likes it cause its shiny....oooooooooooo.....) Sleek looks very good to me, 20gb good battery life over others. Im not looking for color so im fine there. (who wants to look at 1.75 inch pictures when your trying to llistetn to music, get a damn camera phone then)

I just want to know about using or not using the craetive software, the drivers, how to use with WMP 10 and just software/usage stuff like that.

Hope it wokrs and ill like it.

I'm trying to find out whether the sleek can be used as a removable disc i.e without installing any odious software on the target computer. If yes, how much of the 20 GB can be set aside for this purpose?

Best Regards

Oh Man! I have had this crappy rio mp3 player for a long time and have long been searching for an upgrade. I wanted a creative zen micro for a while because of the recording feature and removable battery, but the 5 gb capacity was not enough. When I first heard about the sleek I knew I had to get it. I can't wait to buy it! is the battery removable? Even if its not i'm still going to buy it.

Just bought the Zen Sleek today - and already I'm impressed. This little thing spins circles around the iPod. Highly recommended.

I'm <b>really</b> undecided which MP3 player to get... I'm between the Zen Sleek and the <a title="Official Site" href="http://www.archos.com/products/gmini_xs_202/tech_specs.html" rel="nofollow">Archos Gmini XS 202</a>.

Both have roughly the same battery life, so no issue there. However, the Zen Sleek has a better and user friendly interface, FM radio and recorder... but no UMS! The Gmini on the other hand, besides being tiny, is UMS compatible so I can use it for just about anything besides just storing music, but has no FM tuner nor recorder. Not to mention is a little hard to find in stores, and the monochrome Graphical User Interface is a little convoluted.

I'm so undecided... those of you who have the Zen Sleek, what made it a purchase for you? And how does the Windows compability work? Can I use it on any Windows XP computer without the use of extra software?

So..beautiful...
I saw one at best buy, and i was about to just buy it, when i remembered i would have to do some research, unlike my iPod. Wow, it broke twice, peice of crap ipod. So this sleek is just awesome. Plus, best buy gives me a $20 dollar giftcard instantly when i buy it. Sweet.

I have been waiting for something that has an FM radio, WMA support and a 40GB or 60GB capacity for 3 years, so fingers crossed Creative will upgrade the capacity sooner rather then later and give me the player I've been waiting for :~@

I just bought one of these 3 days ago from Best Buy for $250. I've compared this item to the ipod 20 gb unit, which sells for ~$300. I was in the market for the best overall mp3 player (appearance, sound, battery life, and software). I also bought an ipod mini for my fiance's b-day gift. I also have many co-workers with ipod 20 gb units. I have a custom stereo system in my truck, therefore I wanted a unit to deliver high cd-quality music without distortion. Here's my comparisons.

Ipod PROS: Trendy
Ipod CONS: Ugly Wheel, Poor Sound, Low battery life, Apple's I-tunes dictatorship

Creative Zen Sleek PROS: Great Appearance, Great Sound quality (high signal-to-noise ratio), Custome & Pre-set Equalizer sound options, FM-radio, long battery life, PC-Friendly (Windows Media Player)

Creative Zen Sleek CONS: Doesn't have the number of accessories in which ipods have. That's it!

So I put these 2 instuments to the test in my car stereo, and the Zen Sleek BLOWS IPODS AWAY!!! The sound quality was highly unmatched! This was even before playing around with the Zens Custom and default equalizer settings. Also I had to transfer my music onto my mp3 player, which I already had loaded onto my Windows Media Player (800 songs) in both .wav & .mp3 format. With the Zen, it took just one click, and 30 minutes later, all 800 songs were on to my mp3 player. With ITunes, you would need to convert all your music files into the apple supported format for itunes. Although this is an easy process, it would take an enourmous amount of time for libraries >100 songs.

I saw one of these tonight at Best Buy. They are selling for $249.99. The look is simply awesome!! Only problem is that it is as slippery as cat pi$$ on a marble floor. You would have to buy a sleve immediately.
It is also quite heavy. Since I was looking for small and lightweight for travel, I sacrificed the storage for size and went with the Zen Micro.

The trouble with this is that the British press advertises an available 40Gb model initially, but no where do we see such an item for sale. 20Gb is too low a capacity, as far as I'm concerned, and until they issue either a 40Gb (or better yet, 60Gb) model, this little pretty seems a bit slow to catch up with the competition. As far as batteries go, Rich and David are right- Creative batteries really knock out the competition.

Totally agree with David. The battery on my Zen Xtra is great. I have used it for ages and although it probably doesn't last the fully stated time. It's still alot better than any of the rivals.
