Olympus D-435 / C-180 Review - Pocket-lint

Aug 04, 2005 | Category: Olympus D-435 / C-180

Olympus D-435It’s not every day you can buy a five megapixel digital camera for around £110 but with the Olympus D-435 / C-180 , you can. It has a very simple-to-use ethos thanks to a set of clearly marked ‘one button, one function’ controls. There’s a slide away on/off switch on the front, a shutter button on the top and a set of simple controls on the back plate accompanying the 1.5-ich colour screen.

A mode dial provides eight subject modes, including a 320×240-pixel movie mode with 30fps shooting ability. Other modes include portrait, snow/beach and spots and landscape modes to name a few and you have an auto and Program setting for point’n’shooting or for a tad more control respectively. There’s no manual sensitivity (ISO) control, it’s fully automatic between ISO50 and ISO250 adjusted depending on the brightness of the scene you’re shooting.

Olympus D-435 / C-180 Review - DigiCamReview

Aug 04, 2005 | Category: Olympus D-435 / C-180

Olympus D-435The Olympus D-435 / C-180 , is available from £119 | $149 - and is a compact 5 megapixel digital camera, with no optical zoom lens and a 1.5″ TFT screen. The camera is enclosed in a compact silver plastic body. The Olympus optical lens is equivelant to 36.7mm lens in 35mm format. It records unlimited 320×240 / 30fps videos without sound. The camera’s size is: 101.5 (W) x 51.5 (H) x 34.5 (D)mm, and the camera weighs 120g (without batteries).

The Olympus Camedia C-180 D-435 scores very highly on ease of use, but unfortunately falls short on image quality, with soft images, and slow speed in use. The lack of optical zoom is a real shame as well - especially considering Olympus offer the 4 megapixel, 3x optical zoom C-480 for around the same price as the C-180, you’d be better off buying a camera with an optical zoom lens. Images do have good colour and this camera may suite those looking for an extremely easy to use point and shoot camera.

Olympus D-435 / C-180 Review - TrustedReviews

Jun 21, 2005 | Category: Olympus D-435 / C-180

Olympus D-435It’s hard to imagine a greater contrast to the C-7070 than this little camera. The Olympus D-435 / C-180 is small, light, and so simple a child could use it. In fact it wouldn’t surprise me if a lot of these cameras end up in the hands of children, as birthday presents or as a toy to take on holiday. The low price means that if it gets dropped in a rock pool or smothered in ice cream then it’s no crippling loss. It is one of the cheapest 5.1 megapixel cameras on the market, but it still offers the reassurance of the prestigious Olympus name and a build quality that sets it comfortably apart from the majority of cheap budget cameras.
