Nikon Coolpix 4600 / Coolpix 5600The Nikon Coolpix 4600 is a standard digital camera with four megapixels and a three times optical zoom lens. It is a pretty straightforward model and it is easy to get started with. It has all the key features to suit the requirements of the typical social photographer. By using the camera’s automatic mode you can be up and running with the Coolpix 4600 more or less straight away. This type of digital camera is fine for all the usual holiday photos, general social gatherings pictures and shots for the family album.

Nikon Coolpix 4600 Review - Imaging Resource

May 28, 2005 | Category: Nikon Coolpix 4600

Nikon Coolpix 4600 / Coolpix 5600Super-tiny and compact, the Nikon Coolpix 4600 is easily among the smallest digital cameras currently on the market (as are its sister models the Coolpix 5600 and 7600). Not much larger than a credit card, the Coolpix 4600 is designed to fit nicely into shirt pockets and small purses, perfect for travelers. It’s so tiny (weighing just 6.7 ounces or 189 grams with the battery and memory card loaded), I’d highly recommend keeping the included wrist strap securely around your wrist when shooting. The automatic lens cover makes it quick on the draw, and eliminates any worry about keeping track of a lens cap. The camera’s matte silver body is fashionable, and features shiny silver highlights for a little glitz. Built into the Nikon 4600 is a 3x optical zoom lens and a 4.0-megapixel CCD for capturing high quality images, a macro mode capable of focusing as close 1.6 inches, and no fewer than 16 preset shooting modes. Well-suited to novice photographers, the camera operates largely under automatic control, and its control layout and menu display are very user friendly.

The Coolpix 4600 is one of the first Nikon digital cameras to feature the new D-Lighting technology, which intelligently lightens overly dark images, and Advanced Red-eye Reduction, which automatically detects and corrects red-eye in most situations. The Nikon Coolpix 4600 has a 3x optical zoom lens equivalent to 34-102mm on a 35mm camera, a 1.8 inch LCD screen and 16 different scene modes to help you take better pictures.

Nikon Coolpix 4600 Review - Steve’s Digicams

May 13, 2005 | Category: Nikon Coolpix 4600

Nikon Coolpix 4600 / Coolpix 5600The Nikon Coolpix 4600 is the “little brother” to the Coolpix 5600 and is fundamentally identical with lesser resolution and no sound during movie recording. This ultra-compact camera features a 4-megapixel imager combined with a Nikkor 3x optical zoom lens. Designed for simplicity, it offers users a point-n-shoot “Auto” exposure mode, and helps the less-experienced photographer obtain good results with its wide variety of pre-programmed scene modes. There’s also scene-assisted modes (Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Night Portrait) that help with shot composition by displaying framing assist outlines on the LCD.

Nikon Coolpix 4600 / 5600 Review - DCRP

Mar 30, 2005 | Category: Nikon Coolpix 4600, Nikon Coolpix 5600

Nikon Coolpix 4600 / Coolpix 5600The Nikon Coolpix 4600 and Nikon Coolpix 5600 are both decent entry-level cameras that are best suited for outdoor photos. In those situations they take good quality photos with accurate colors and not much noise or purple fringing. Indoor photos are still okay, but taking them can be frustrating due to poor low light focusing and an LCD which doesn’t gain up much. Both cameras are totally point-and-shoot, with white balance being the only manual control. They have a ton of scene modes, including unique “Scene Assist” modes which help you frame your photos. Two other cool features are Nikon’s D-Lighting digital flash (which works if you don’t mind more noise in your photos) and in-camera redeye reduction. The two Coolpixes also offer a help system in their menus, though the help screens could be more helpful.
