Kodak Easyshare Z740 Review - Designtecnica

Aug 29, 2005 | Category: Kodak Easyshare Z740

Kodak Easyshare Z740Oh, the much maligned shoebox! It’s the repository of hundreds of old prints that are covered with dust and yellowing with age. Digital photography was supposed to eliminate the proverbial box by empowering you to make just the prints you wanted. The problem with this theory was reality. Rather than making prints most people simply downloaded images to their PCs where they stayed, in effect, making the computer a 21st century shoebox. Although making a print at home is relatively easy manufacturers have forged ahead by making it even simpler. No one has done this better than Kodak with its new camera/printer dock bundles such as the Z740 camera combined with the EasyShare Pinter Dock Series 3 ($479 list, $425 or less in the real world).

With one purchase, you get the Z740, a decent 5-megapixel digicam with a 10x optical zoom and the dock that cranks out 4×6 prints in about 90 seconds. You simply place the camera in the dock, find the image you want to print on the camera’s 1.8-inch LCD screen, hit a key and out pops a print. This is about as easy as it gets for PC free printing.

Kodak Easyshare Z740 Review - CNET Reviews

Aug 04, 2005 | Category: Kodak Easyshare Z740

Kodak Easyshare Z740A 10X zoom lens, manual exposure controls, 5-megapixel resolution, a versatile burst-shooting mode, and an electronic viewfinder that works as well in blazing sunlight as in murky interiors–there are certainly aspects of the Kodak Easyshare Z740 that might cause photo enthusiasts to sit up and take notice. Unfortunately, the downside includes rampant purple fringing, a bit of noise (marring otherwise decent image quality), a lack of manual focus, and a low-resolution EVF, which suffers from ghosting and blackouts between shots.

It has tons of scene modes that are actually easy to understand, a great zoom to pull distant subjects in close, and battery life to last all day.

Kodak Easyshare Z740 Review - PC Magazine

Apr 27, 2005 | Category: Kodak Easyshare Z740

Kodak Easyshare Z740Generally, the Kodak Easyshare Z740 was a quick enough performer for our needs, especially in terms of recycle time. Menus were easy to read, though the joystick made them difficult to navigate. The zoom controls worked very well, though we were unable to zoom while shooting video. Also, when we zoomed, the autofocus system sometimes had trouble refocusing. We simply avoided using the EVF. The built-in flash pops up automatically, but it can also be opened manually; it was powerful enough for general shooting. In low-light conditions, the LCD became very noisy, but that’s usually to be expected. Otherwise, the camera worked quite well, even in bright light. The Share button made it easy to tag images for printing, e-mailing, and adding to favorites (stored in internal memory).
