Looking like a million bucks, the Photosmart R707 was the first to break the mold in HP’s formerly boring design scheme. This 5-megapixel camera, with its 3X zoom, doesn’t offer many manual exposure controls, though it provides several unique–and useful–features. Snapshooters and beginners who want to learn the ropes should be attracted by the HP Photosmart R707’s in-camera help system and competitive price. Fussy shooters, however, will take issue with some of the camera’s photographic flaws.

HP Photosmart R707 Review - Pocket-lint
The HP Photosmart R707 offered fast start up, fast zoom and fast save times to the internal memory. The two complaints we have are firstly the save time to the SD card as it wasn’t very fast. Take three or four shots in succession and you’ll have a camera that is out of action for some time as the buffer works away to clear itself. Secondly, the flash can occasionally overcompensate. However, if you aren’t planning lots of action shots or those featuring you and your friends in dimly lit environments (like a nightclub and so on) then this offers plenty to the novice digital photographer looking to learn their first digital camera rather than just being confused all the time.
HP Photosmart R707 Review - PhotographyBLOG
The HP Photosmart R707 is the flagship model in HPs new range of digital cameras that was first announced at the end of August 2004. Only the older HP Photosmart 945 sits above it in terms of specification and price. With a stylish brushed aluminum front and matt black rear, the R707 is sure to turn heads in your local camera shop. Inside is a 5 megapixel sensor and a number of cutting-edge technologies, the most notable being HP Adaptive Lighting, which automatically adjusts high contrast photos to reveal detail in the shadow areas. Even better, the HP R707’s price has recently fallen, with a current price tag of just £150 / $250 - amazing value for a 5 megapixel camera.
HP Photosmart R607 Review - Megapixel.net
Another member of Hewlett-Packard’s Photosmart R series, the HP Photosmart R607 has an eye-catching design that uses a moulded metal cover on the front combined with a non-slip, graphite-coloured back. The HP R607 is an affordable and compact camera that provides a 4.1 megapixel resolution, a 3X optical zoom and is intended as an economical alternative to the Photosmart R707, the 5 megapixel model in this series.
