Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro Review - Pocket-lint.co.uk

Apr 04, 2005 | Category: Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro

Fujifilm FinePix S3 ProThe Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro is, as you might expect a camera replete with professional specification features including up 1/4000sec shutter speed, Nikon F lens mount compatibility and both hot shoe and separate flash synch terminal for studio flash. You get 4 AA-battery power housed within a special slide that fits neatly into the vertical grip. The latter has its own shutter button and the nicely sculpted body while bulkier overall, as a result is very nice to handle.

Although the S3 Pro looks overpriced compared to many of the D-SLRs appearing on the market, it must be remembered this is not a sports photographer’s snapper. It offers uniqueness with its wide dynamic range, thanks to the dual pixel layout that makes it a real social photographer’s tool where skin tones and whites (of wedding dresses) are the key to a good shot. A corker then, but one for a niche within niche of the photo market.

Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro Review - Steve’s Digicams

Feb 23, 2005 | Category: Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro

Fujifilm FinePix S3 ProThe Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro retains the Nikon heritage of the S2. That’s good news if you own a lot of Nikon glass, and it also assures compatibility with Nikon speedlights. Fuji made several improvements in the S3’s body, including the provision of a vertical (portrait orientation) grip and shutter release, elimination of the hybrid AA/CR123A battery system in favor of AA batteries only, and provision of a larger and more resolute LCD display. Battery life was surprisingly long, capturing up to 290 images on a single set of 2500mAh NiMH rechargables. With the exception of its vertical shutter release, the S3’s body is well designed, and its various controls and switches well-placed for both comfort and ease-of use. Its grips are rubberized and comfortable to hold, providing a secure felling that the camera will not slip out of your fingers.

Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro Review - bythom

Feb 02, 2005 | Category: Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro

Fujifilm FinePix S3 ProWhile I wouldn’t take my drawbacks lightly, they do get knocked down a bit in importance when you consider the positives. The Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro takes beautiful, color-saturated photos, and when used correctly can give any digital SLR that costs less than US$2495 a real run for the money. Yes, that means everything from the Nikon D70 to the Canon 20D. It’s only when you get to the pro bodies that the S3 Pro starts to suffer in comparisons, though even then its image quality holds up quite well. The S3 Pro loses a small bit in the resolution race, but not nearly as much as you might think; it performs about like an 8mp camera. In short, expect to produce good looking images out of this camera.
