Casio Exilim EX-V8 Review - DigitalCameraReview

Oct 08, 2007 | Category: Casio Exilim EX-V8

The Casio Exilim EX-V8 is a capable ultracompact ultra-zoom camera, but mainly outdoors.

The 7x optical zoom lens is nicely stabilized and performs well for being such a compact lens. The YouTube video mode worked well and the stereo sound capture was a nice feature. Image quality was very good outdoors. If you need to use flash indoors, results weren’t as good, with the weak flash and red-eye showing up way too often. Battery life was very good and the camera operated very quickly overall.

If you’re in the market for a compact ultra-zoom, definitely give the EX-V8 a look.

Nikon Coolpix L11 Review - TrustedReviews

Oct 08, 2007 | Category: Nikon Coolpix L11

In light of its superior picture quality and higher resolution, and the fact that it is available for about the same price, the Nikon Coolpix L11 is significantly better value for money than the L10. In fact I have seldom seen such excellent value.

If you’re looking for a nice simple compact, maybe as a holiday camera or as a gift for a child, it is got to be at the top of your shortlist.

Samsung NV10 Review - CNET

Oct 04, 2007 | Category: Samsung NV10

Despite some notable flaws, photos taken on the Samsung NV10 generally look good. Pictures appear crisp and full of detail, with vivid color reproduction. Fine textures such as fur, fabric, and text come out very clearly, with few artifacts.

Noise stays manageable at low sensitivity levels, though shots taken at ISO 400 develop a distinct grain that can be easily seen on computer monitors and is accompanied by a minor loss of fine detail. At ISO 800 and above, that grain becomes a prominent fuzz that obscures fine details and muddles colors. Fringing also tended to find its way into some photos, with pinkish auras developing on nearly every contrasting edge.

Samsung NV11 Review - CNET

Oct 04, 2007 | Category: Samsung NV11

With some very nice photos and full manual exposure controls, the Samsung NV11 seems like a decent choice for amateur photographers who want to learn the art, or for dSLR owners who want a reasonably compact second camera.

The camera doesn’t shoot as fast as we would have liked, though, and its Smart Touch control scheme is definitely an acquired taste. Try out this camera for a bit before you commit to it, if only to find out if its touch sensor controls are right for you.

Koda Easyshare M853 Review - CNET

Oct 04, 2007 | Category: Kodak Easyshare M853

The Kodak Easyshare M853 is simple and affordable, and takes pictures. There isn’t much else to say about it. While we recognise the value of budget compacts, it’s hard to like a camera this undistinguished.

The Nikon Coolpix L11 packs features such as face detection into a similar price point, while an extra £50 outlay will buy the far superior Fujifilm FinePix F40fd.

Lack lustre speed, terrible low-light performance and a lack of features far outweigh the simplicity and user-friendliness of the M853, making it a frustration to use.
