Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W7 Review - TrustedReviews

May 31, 2005 | Category: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W7

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W7The control layout and ergonomic design of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W7 are simple but effective, unlike some of Sony’s more eccentric designs. The camera is basically a rectangular box with a lens on the front and a monitor on the back. Thanks to its large size and relatively basic specification, the fairly small number of controls are well spaced out and still leave plenty of room for your thumb. Overall handling is fairly good and all the buttons are easy to reach, although the mode dial could do with a little work. The milled edges that make it easy to grip also catch on your pocket lining and often turn the dial to a random position, which is inconvenient if you’re in a hurry and forget to check what mode it is set to.

Sony’s Cyber-shot DSC-W7 represents a good middle ground in the new 7 megapixel snapshot market. Image quality could be a little better, but overall performance, build quality and handling are everything we’ve come to expect from Sony.

Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro Review - CNET Reviews

May 31, 2005 | Category: Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro

Fujifilm FinePix S3 ProThe Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro digital SLR (dSLR) replaces the S2 Pro, which enjoyed some modest success among photographers who prized its image quality. Like its predecessor, the S3 Pro uses Nikon F-mount SLR lenses and a (debatably) 6-megapixel Fujifilm sensor. But the sensor, called a Super CCD SR II, is an all-new design that uses two photodetectors per pixel to deliver the widest dynamic range we’ve seen in a dSLR. The camera’s performance is mediocre, but if you hate blown-out highlights and love rich colors, the S3 Pro is worth a close look.

Canon Powershot A520 Review - DigiCamReview

May 30, 2005 | Category: Canon Powershot A520

Canon Powershot A520The Canon Powershot A520 is an excellent all round camera, with a decent 4x optical zoom lens, and features to suit every need, from basic point and shoot operation, to full manual controls. The camera takes AA batteries so can travel with you anywhere without any need to worry about running out of battery power or supplies. The camera is also expandable with optional lenses, and flash accessories, so will grow with you if you expand your requirements without the need to buy a replacement camera. Image quality is very good, the camera is capable of some excellent results - the only areas where this camera are let down is in the outdated movie modes, the slightly sluggish performance, and the slightly high price compared to some of the competition.
